The IELTS exam was jointly developed by the University of Cambridge and a consortium of several Australian universities, and the TOEFL is an exam system created in the USA. The results of both exams are recognized by many universities, employers, government institutions and immigration authorities.
The validity of both exams is two years from the date of issue of the certificate. At the end of the two-year period, the results are no longer valid and the exam must be retaken.
